Its a good time to have a think about centenaries, anniversaries etc so that there might be time to work up talks and papers during 2008. Anybody any suggestions re dates with an '8' ending of local, county or national significance.

A few which occur:

80th anniversary of Kildare's last All Ireland win which, significantly, was also the first year the sam maguire trophy was presented (1928)

25th anniversary of the opening of Ireland's first motorway (M7), the 5mile stretch of the Naas by-pass (1983)

Worth looking at dates on local churches, bridges, etc to identify similar anniversaries ....

Any offerings anybody ???? sunny
